Celebrating NAIDOC week

Today some of the Library staff were fortunate enough to attend the Bond University NAIDOC Week Flag Raising Ceremony.

We listened to two local elders speak about the importance of NAIDOC week, heard about the great work done by the Bond Indigenous Awareness Society and watched a moving (and entertaining!) dance performance from three Torres Strait Islander dancers. We were also treated to a BBQ prepared by Bond students. Thanks very much to Narelle Urquhart and all the students who organised the event.

The Library would like to encourage all students to take this opportunity to learn about the contributions that Indigenous Australians make to our country and our society. As part of NAIDOC week, the Library will be showcasing some books and films in our Library collection that celebrate Indigenous history and culture. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram to find out more.

Details of other NAIDOC week events are available on the NAIDOC website
