Where did the paintings go?

Fear not - they shall be returned. The paintings have been moved to safe storage so as to be out of the way of the refurbishment activity, which is fast approaching.

The exciting news is that the brand new extension to the Library is expected to be ready for us to use in time for semester break. And then we're moving in!!

So, what's going on and how will you be affected?

Well, after they've finished building the extension, the builders will be coming into the current Level 2 of the Main Library to give it it some much needed attention (ie. they're going to refurbish it). So we'll be moving everything we need (which probably won't be a small amount) out of Level 2 and into the new annex so that facilities and services will continue to be available. This move will happen during the first week of semester break, so the Main library will be closed for this week (27/4/09 - 3/5/09). From week 2 of the break however the Main Library will be open again via a new entrance in the annex.

And, we hope you can excuse the appearance of the library over these last few weeks of the semester as we prepare for the change. Little things like the artwork going missing.

The really excellent news is that it's all for a very worthy cause. The fully refurbished and extended library is scheduled to be complete in September, and with new spaces and technologies, an improved printing and photcopying area, a fully integrated Service Desk, a coffee shop, and more, I'm thinking you may hardly know the place.
